"It was just magical, one of the best days ever at Lawn. Hands down. I've never seen the children so well behaved and engaged like that. Amazing. It was mesmerising watching and listening to you...

"I just think there's so much value in this kind of storytelling day."

Susannah Cousins, Teacher
Lawn Primary School, Derby.

"This was truly inspirational stuff and our students were fully engaged... this was a fabulous activity that inspired the children and also helped our students with their creative writing. We will be booking her again soon!"

Richard Mace, Head of English & History, S. Anselm's School, Bakewell.

"Just to say a huge thank you for today. The children thoroughly enjoyed your stories- particularly my class who made my TA and I very proud with their responses! All the other members of staff were incredibly impressed by how you captured the imaginations of all the children- especially some of our tough Year 6 boys!"

Helen Herbert, Teacher, St James School, Derby.

Schools

UPDATE: COVID 19
Given Covid19, I am now offering virtual visits. This means that schools can have a short "visit" that is budget-friendly and conducted over video. This has been working really well, with teaching groups able to listen to me telling a story or interview me about my writing. I am also currently working on a middle grade adventure series (I am published as Sophie Draper), so able to read and talk about that too. Please contact me to discuss further (Email:
 info@sophiesnell.co.uk or tel 01332 840007).

Sophie visits primary and secondary schools, performing traditional stories - fairy tales, folk tales, myths and legends that cover a range of cultures, countries and themes. She leads workshops to promote storytelling and listening skills, literacy and communication, and the tools of writing that she has learned as an author.

She also offers staff training for conferences, inset days and twilight sessions.

A day in school might consist of visiting each year group or particular classes to tell stories. Or working with a specified group to develop skills and teach students how to tell stories themselves - perhaps leading to a performance. Sophie is happy to tell a story at assembly as part of a day visit and also offers evening storytelling for awaydays and school camps, and bedtime tales for special school / family events.

If you have an idea or a query, do please just ask.

Sophie also visits schools as a published author, talking about her experience writing novels, editing, and the process that leads to publication.

Sophie is passionate about aiding communication and listening skills, promoting language acquisition and vocal confidence, and sharing her love of stories and writing.

Fees are based on a daily rate plus travel, determined according to the location, preparation and delivery requirements of each job.
